Tour de France

The victory of the Germans on Nanga Parbat should have been nothing for Superman Lopez, as he is commonly known. His victory on the newly opened route to the Col du Loze in Meribel should have been more decisive for him. Also, the similarity of the name doesn't exactly prevent him from carving his insignia into the stones of the tour's history.

The 17th stage of the Tour de France led from Grenoble to Meribel today. It was 170 km long and at the end led 21 km up to the Col du Loze above Meribel. The route is newly paved and can only be used by cyclists. If the tour doesn't come and make this attraction known to the world.

At first, a small top group with Lennard Kämna and Carapaz was able to break away. The boys rode together for a long time in the Isere valley towards Col du Madeleine, the first ascent of the day. Kämna from the Bora hansgrohe team was the first to drop out of the group. Richard Carapaz from Team Ineos was the last. But for a long time he fought an impressive fight with the Bahrain Merida team. He was only caught late. It was only a few kilometers to the finish. The dreams of Mikel Landa from the Bahrain Merida team also fell victim to the battle of the favorites for the overall standings. He had let his people toil in the peloton all day and then ended up with empty hands.

He wasn't alone when Lopez attacked and left everyone standing. But then he was followed by Roglic, Pogacar and a few others. After driving past the exhausted Carapaz, he could not be denied victory.

Promoz Roglic from the Jumbo Visma team was also able to squeeze a few seconds off the youngster Pogacar from UAE and extend his lead.

Poagrcar is now taking over the mountain jersey from Benoit Cosnefoy. Because there were 24 points for 3rd place alone, he now has 66. Cosnefroy couldn't add any more to his 36 points today.
