Cycling. For what is still to come.

After raising the cups in Paris , the cycling hangover could soon come. The behavior of some cyclists was too unusual. There were often performances that were previously referred to as extraterrestrial.
Somehow, this time the French state took a vow of silence about the tour. This time they didn't want to disturb the French national festival. At least not the day after. When the French President visited the tour and the President of the tour, recovered in a miraculously short time, chauffeured him through the Alps.
Yes, that reminds me a lot of Louis de Funès and his gendarme from Saint Tropez. The gendarmes didn’t get upset and last Wednesday they searched the premises of Arkea Samsic after two orderlies were picked up with unexpected medication. Only a few should be on the doping list. Not yet ?
Are there already those affected?
Names were not mentioned. Only that some drivers and their equipage were a little holed. The head of Arkea Samsic emphasized that only these few people are affected by the allegations. We will see. Andrè Greipel must have known why he left this group as quickly as possible. Arkea Samsic with her new star Quintana and his entourage did not particularly excel in this tour. The performance fell short of all expectations.
You saw completely different. Boys who drove through the countryside at ape-like speed and played a role in the time trial the next day.
A rogue who thinks bad. But I told you last week that there were very few differences between professional cycling, soccer, wrestling and the gladiators in ancient Rome. We have to see the whole thing as slapstick and entertainment. As a rule, professional sport is nothing more than that.
A little history of doping in cycling
I would just like to come back very briefly to the history of cycling and doping. The same applies to all other sports, by the way. For most media professionals and fans, the tour is synonymous with cycling. That is why there is a very long history of doping here. In the first 60 years it wasn't banned at all. Anyone who didn't dop was considered an idiot and not a cyclist. At the beginning of cycling, alcohol and ether were used to relieve pain. It was only later that performance-enhancing agents came into play. Then strychnine was used. Some drivers later took such doses that inexperienced people would have died.
It was only with Tom Simpsen that doping really came into disrepute. Of course not with the driver. They continued to swallow pretty much everything the medicine cabinet and the doctors gave. Because we don't want to forget that. That is why the medical staff was employed.
Even today, doping prevention research lags a little behind reality. It was only recently announced that synthetic hemoglobin was being used in 2016/17. This stuff, called H 7379, has been linked to Operation Bloodletting and is believed to have been used by cyclists as well. More on this
