Bad times for B&B hotels?

The news came as no surprise. For a few months now, we've been hearing that the B&B Hotels team is looking for a new sponsor. Nevertheless, we kept a low profile there.

Now the team seems to have run into serious difficulties when looking for sponsors. The athletic team members were free to look for a new team. Not particularly good news so close to Christmas.

Because getting a professional contract again quickly shouldn't be easy. The Belgian press is of course keeping its fingers crossed for its athletes. And knowing Belgian cycling, they will eventually find a home.

Yes, if Jerome Pineau doesn't manage to convince a new co-sponsor. There should still be someone interested. So let's hope for the very best. Also for Mark Cavendish, because he actually wanted to join B&B Hotels after the Quickstepper messed up the tour this year.

As a French team, B&B Hotels can of course hope to take part in the Tour de France. This is actually an incredible incentive for the sponsors. If you believe the insiders, up to 70 percent of the annual turnover is made on the tour. Also with the sponsors. Cavendish, of course, has a great interest in the Grand Boucle of his own. A single victory would have to come and he would be the sole king of the hill. Even before the big cannibal. As I estimate Cav, the coal is more of a side issue.

Of course, B&B Hotels wanted to stock up for the next season. They had some potential winners on the line. And of course you want to move up from the second division to the World Tour. That is only associated with manpower. And manpower means coal in professional sports. If you don't have one, the cracks might give you a friendly greeting, but nothing more. The team was in 23rd place in the UCI world rankings. But there were still a few points to go before the people. Rather, the journey is the goal here. Let's hope it doesn't end prematurely.
