Cycling Tour of Costa Rica
One man's meat is another man's suffering. The Vuelta a Costa Rica runs at Christmas time. The race starts on December 16th and ends on December 25th. Of course, as always, it goes over the 3200 high Cerro de la Muerte, a fairly high volcano.
The Vuelta Ciclsta a Costa Rica is therefore the filler between the Tour de France and that in Down Under. But you can also choose something else. Sometimes European teams are also at the start. Mostly they come from South or Central America. This year, however, the Global Team is part of the party. The drivers come globally from Holland. And spend the Christmas season in the Caribbean. Felice Navidad.
As is well known, the rest of the country does winter sports in Winterberg during this time. It should be warm there too. However, I have been told that the complete snowmaking of the ski area there corresponds to the energy consumption of a flight with 200 passengers to the Caribbean and back. But now I'm wondering why the lift tickets are so expensive in Winterberg.
According to Adam and the Giant, the Vuelta a Costa will be held in 10 stages. 16.12 to 25.12. The Germany Tour is almost as big. After all, you have four stages and there is also a prologue. If the whole thing were to be carried out before Christmas. the situation would probably be a little more unmanageable. Does this instant adhesive actually hold up in wet conditions or in sub-zero temperatures? I don't really like to imagine it. All the stuck Santas on the country lanes. Women are probably not there. For historical reasons. But you are working on it.
At the Vulta a Costa Rica we have already seen five stages. Yesterday went to Berlin. Isn't that what. Hooray, we're going to Berlin. Scream thousands of drivers and fans in the morning. If they don't tape the streets. But you don't. Because this time Berlin is not in Germany but in Costa Rica. So you started in San Ramon and only had to drive 94 km. That was also quite hilly and there was a final climb before the gifts were given, you could see a trickling field coming in. The stage was won by Daniel Bonilla, who is not entirely unknown in this country, from the Colono Construction Bike Station team, just ahead of Colombian Marco Suesca. After the 5th stage, Daniel Bonilla leads the race.
Before that you already have 530 kilometers. Spread over four stages. The first was the longest of this tour. At least 199 km. Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow we will go over the mountain of mountains. The Cerro de la Muerto is again the executioner of the tour. But it's pretty easy to drive. Once up and then down again. uh yeah
What do the global Jongens do? Don't fare so badly. After all, the best of these amateurs, or should I say adventurers, Tjalle De Bruin, is in 50th place. After all, he has already been to Berlin. And otherwise only does the Tour de France at most.
