The phrasemongers of the pre-Christmas period

It is well known that German winter sports athletes usually only achieve results after Christmas. That's why the time before that is the time of the phrase-mongering journalists. You can be glad that they didn't become a chef. The hospitals would be overrun en masse with food poisoning.
A certain well-known German skier is said to be lying in wait somewhere in fourth place. Great headline. I'm wondering how you lie in wait in fourth place. Do you do that before the finish line? Or even before the start? Dipped softly in a snow pit, then jumped out of the hole just before the race. Or do they lie behind their hotel room door and anxiously await the start? There are so many possibilities. And then the phrasemongers.
After it didn't work out. That's right. It's not over. Better? It doesn't say yes, just the medal winners on the mic, please. No, we don't need silver and bronze. Please only the ones with gold. If there is no metal, it's just the best German or gender-neutral onelove-wise, the best Ger/man/ women. Where are the various others?
You say now, that's harsh mockery from the Tourman Journal. No, gentlemen. gentlewomen or something like that, that's the reality. Unfortunately unfortunately.
Nevertheless, I want to bring something from winter sports. I can only do this to a limited extent and, so to speak, pick the raisins out of the Christmascake . That's why I would like to tell you a little bit about ski jumping at this point.
The jumpers had their home World Cup this weekend in Titisee/Neutsadt. Incidentally, the four Germans finished third behind Austria and Norway in mixed jumping, which is a nice German word, isn't it, like Handy? Katharina Althaus even won the women's competition on the large hill. For the men, Karl Geiger was of course in the foreground again. After the German jumper got out of his form slump at the beginning of the winter, he is often seen among the top ten again. Even a podium place can be jumped out.
At the last competition on the large hill in Titisee, Geiger finished eighth after the first round. He even improved a bit with his second jump and moved up to fifth place. The Pole David Kubacki won this competition again. On the one hand, because he shows a good early form, on the other hand, the competitors usually only get one good round at the moment.
German problem child is currently Markus Eisenbichler. Most of the time nothing works at Bayern. In Titisee, however, he showed certain signs of resurrection.
